Coach Welter was a track letter winner at the University of Illinois and just finished up his 1st year as assistant coach for the Sages track team.  He coaches the sprinters, long jumpers and short relays.  Coach Welter recently completed his 16th year of coaching track & field. Prior to coming to Monticello, he coached at Ridgeview and Aledo High Schools.  His team accomplishments include:

 

-1 Sectional title & Sectional runners-up 5 times

 

-6th place at the 2009 IHSA State Meet

 

-12 individual state medalists

 

-5 relay state medalists

 

-2 state champions(2009) - 110 High Hurdles, 4x100 Meter Relay
